I NEED INSPIRATION AND FEEL GOOD STUFF...
While it is true “if a dog bites a man, it is not news, but when a man bites a dog, it is news” , news must also have inspiring elements.
Today, I picked up my favourite newspaper and the following stories caught my attention:
1. Pirates in the Gulf of Aden rake in RM100million this year – yes, and part of it came from MISC. Readers would now anticipate higher prices due to higher insurance costs, longer route - now that ships will avoid Gulf of Aden. The US might use this as legitimacy to ‘invade’ in order to protect. Read: Hopelessness.
2. Gerakan party election – Koh Tsu Koon in challenging time with calls by some members to leave BN. Some already left. Readers will visualize instability. Read: Weak leadership.
3. Hindraf supporters ‘created a scene’ at PM’s open house. Readers are angry at rude people tak hormat majlis. If you want to stress a message do it in a credible, polite way. Even Mahatma Gandhi stressed ‘passive resistance’. Read: When we are weak (or perceived as weak), people walk all over us.
4. Gunmen in RM1.3million gems grab in Seberang Perai. Readers are afraid of their safety now. Read: Lawlessness.
5. Couple in Kuala Lumpur who sought treatment from a ‘bomoh’ ended up being beaten to death (beaten = supposed to be part of the healing). Readers are puzzled at the intelligence of Malaysians. Read: And we are going to be a developed nation.
6. Puteri UMNO Chief said members still confused over leadership transition -- they need explanation. Readers wonder -- communications in UMNO = bad and always top down? Read: Weak leadership again.
7. Cop who fired 58 shots into the air in Kuala Lipis referred to psychiatrist. Readers wonder – mental state of the police force... Read: Our protectors will shoot us?
8. Stop the monopoly of the Chinese press by Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King, said Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai. Readers say, how can this be? Read: Can we ever have a healthy debate?
9. The US700billion bailout – US financial system at the brink of collapse. Readers are worried because our market was and will continue to be badly affected. Read: Do we have what it takes to insulate us from all these?
10. PT Bank Internasional Indonesia buy, a commercial decision, says Najib. Readers say, Temasek? Hmmm...We know.. Bank Negara’s advise? Hmmm...We know. Read: How meh?
I need some feel good stuff please. I want hope. And they say politics is the business of giving hope…Now... Fast...
